Open from 11AM to 10:30PM until April 13th, 2025

If you’ve been following my Instagram, you’ve probably heard of the flooding incident at Friends of Ruby.

Thankfully, they’re back up and running, with a slight relocation to the 101 office on the ground floor.

And even better now is that they’re open for weekends for almost 12 hours during the winter.

I do have a small criticism of not opening during the late night since that’s when winters are at its coldest, but I’m also aware of their lack of resources to make such a thing reasonable.

If you remember in my previous article about Friends of Ruby, there was confusion regarding the opening times, as one of them was in relation to the warming centre being open for the winter.

Use The Front Entrance

When you’ve reached the address, use the building’s front door entrance, as the back door is closed now until Friends of Ruby relocates to the basement level.

The front door is also locked, but whether you’re there during weekdays or weekends, just ring the white doorbell at the door to be let in.

Unfortunately the building buzzer isn’t working right now. But you can always call the 416-359-0237 number (Press 0 at the menu) if that fails.

As for amenities, there’s still a majority of them that are still intact despite the flooding. Even for computer use, I was given a Chromebook to use.

One more thing:

Something that happened is that the Friends of Ruby disappeared from Google Maps after the flooding. I asked about it but I was the first person to bring it up. With that said, we’re not sure why that has happened but it’ll definitely impact others from being able to get to the space.

The main way I’ve been getting to the space is just by inputting the 489 Queen Street East address in Google Maps.
